Prajna Paramita was born and brought up
in India and went to the best educational institutions in the country.
After completing her B.A. Honors in History and Political Science, she
obtained a Masters in English with a first class and competed to enter the Indian
Foreign Service to which she was selected in 1974. (Only the top 20 or so laureates
are offered this service).
She studied French at the Sorbonne
in 1976-77 and began working as a career diplomat, first in the Indian
Embassy in Paris, then Brussels, and resigned for personal
reasons in 1982.
That year she moved to Brussels since
when she worked as an independent public affairs consultant specializing
in the communications and PR needs of diplomatic missions, working for governments
of the Asia-Pacific region in particular. She continues to work in this
line.
In 1993, Prajna went to university as a
mature student, and in 1995 obtained a postgraduate diploma with "grande
distinction" in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Catholic
University of Louvain-la-Neuve.
Following the liberalization of the
Indian market, Prajna worked as a business development consultant
with Indian and European companies to promote business partnerships, more
specifically in high-tech, IT and biotechnology.
During this period, 1995-98, she
developed and taught a course for the MIME (Masters in Intercultural Management
in Enterprise) program of the ICHEC business school in Brussels with
reference to India. She conducts workshops to train European company personnel
relocating to India or setting up business there.
Simultaneously, she trained as a
psychotherapist, specializing in Integrative Psychotherapy and Gestalt
therapy, from 1995 to 2001, and has a private practice in Brussels.
